To a very large extent our cleaning staff hold the fate of our company in their hands. Any failure on their behalf can shed a bad light over our whole organisation. We will therefore only place an applicant once we have done all we can to satisfy ourselves that they will uphold our company's reputation.
This process includes:
Interview
During the interview process the applicant must state whether they have been convicted of a criminal offence or are awaiting the hearing of charges in a court of law. In the interview conversation we encourage applicants to talk about themselves, drawing on tried and tested techniques to identify deception.
Character and Reference Checks
We carry out two reference checks, which include dates of employment, reason for leaving, job description, attendance, reliability, attitude, cooperativeness, intellectual level, strengths, weaknesses, support needs, etc. In particular we listen for the "unsaid" and probe.
All Convictions Report
We apply to the Ministry of Justice for an All Convictions Report through the National Law Enforcement Data Base.
Induction
From the outset of Induction and Training, professional conduct is instilled in our staff.
- All staff sign a confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement.
- Allowing unauthorised people on site is considered serious misconduct.
- Staff must never use the clients' equipment, e.g. computers or photocopiers. The client's phone can only be used to log on and off, phone RealClean or dial 111 in emergencies.
- Our staff are instructed to contact their contract manager if they notice anything out of the ordinary, make note of it in the communications book, and contact security.
Hidden Surveillance
Doubt is a shadow that we don't want hanging over the heads of our company. For this reason RealClean owns a hidden surveillance camera, which is made available for our clients to assess our staff members' trustworthiness. This is a free-of-charge service. Our staff are aware of this and are trained to act in a professional manner at all times.
Staff are also issued with photo-ID badges and wear company uniform at all times while working on your premises.
